This is the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip instead of the standard M5. The difference shows up in sustained work: long video exports, large codebases, many layers in a photo file. It also moves the machine to Thunderbolt 5, which matters if you run fast external storage.
What you get
- Apple M5 Pro with a 15-core CPU and 16-core GPU, so exports and builds that took minutes on a standard M5 finish sooner and hold their speed under load
- Thunderbolt 5 ports at up to 120Gb/s, so an external SSD behaves close to the internal drive rather than being the bottleneck
- 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion to 120Hz, bright enough for real HDR grading rather than approximate preview
- 512GB SSD and a wider memory bandwidth than the standard M5, which is what keeps large timelines responsive
- HDMI and SDXC built in, so camera cards and external displays connect directly
- Active cooling, so the chip can hold its top speed through a long render rather than easing off
- Still a 14-inch chassis, so the extra power does not cost you portability
